VR Snabbtåg is and has been the challenger on the Swedish rail market for passengers. For ten years delivering first class service and with highest punctuality on the Stockholm-Gothenburg route. VR Snabbtåg is a fast-moving organization with offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg, and train in between.
As VR’s operations in Sweden have grown, we are now looking for an experienced Sourcing Manager to join our Public Tendering team. The position is based in Stockholm or Gothenburg.
You will be part of a cross-border procurement team with colleagues in Helsinki, while you will be the only team member physically located in Sweden. You report to the Head of Public Tendering (based in Helsinki), and in a matrix to the CEO of VR Snabbtåg Sverige AB.
This is a unique opportunity for a business-minded procurement professional with a strong background in public procurement to take ownership of all local public tendering processes and make a real impact in a dynamic organisation.
Your responsibilities will include
– Planning and executing public tendering processes in accordance with the Swedish Act on Public Procurement in the Utilities Sector (Lag om upphandling inom försörjningssektorerna, “LUF”). Main categories are within indirect procurement/services.
– Drafting procurement documentation and public contracts in both Swedish and English.
– Leading negotiations and conducting market dialogues.
– Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across functions and countries.
– Contributing to development initiatives and potential joint procurements between Sweden and Finland.
– Driving best practices and ensuring compliant and efficient tendering processes.
Who are we looking for?
To succeed in this role, we believe you have:
– At least 8 years of experience in public procurement in Sweden.
– Good knowledge of LUF and practical experience executing complete tendering processes (at least open and negotiated procedure).
– Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tenders in parallel.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
– A structured and analytical mindset, combined with hands-on problem-solving ability.
– Professional fluency both in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
– Solid experience with indirect procurement categories, especially services.
– Experience with electronic tendering system Tendsign and contract management tools
An academic degree is meritorious, but relevant work experience is equally valued. The role requires a confident, proactive individual who enjoys both operational execution and strategic development.
